Book Talks & Events

Scottish Screenwriters Festival

Looking forward to being part of The Scottish Screenwriters Festival in September, sharing advice gathered from writers & directors about working with ‘notes’. Thanks to festival founder and organiser Maureen Hascoet for inviting me, and to NFTS Scotland for supporting the event. The festival runs 13th-14th September 2025.

London Screenwriters’ Festival

Honoured to be part of London Screenwriters’ Festival online giving a talk about ‘Making Notes a Succesful part of Your Script’s Evolution’ – drawing on advice generously shared by filmmakers in the book, ‘We Have Some Notes… – The Insider’s Guide to Notes, Script Editing and Development’

Grateful to have been invited to be part of the festival’s line up of online guests, for being so well looked after, and for the warm disco-dancing welcome & farewell for each speaker’s session!

Real Magic Q&A with Simon Beaufoy

A wonderful evening at beautiful independent bookshop, Real Magic Books, to mark the publication of We Have Some Notes… The Insider’s Guide to Notes, Script Editing and Development. Where I had the great pleasure of chatting to Oscar winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy, one of the interviewees in the book.

Q&A with Simon Beaufoy at Real Magic Books

Very grateful to Simon for so kindly supporting the launch of the book, to Carl & Sophie of Real Magic Books for hosting it in their beautiful bookshop, and to everyone who came along and made it such a lovely evening.

We Have Some Notes… on The Directors’ Take Podcast

Fascinating to be interviewed by filmmakers Marcus Anthony Thomas and Oz Arshad for an episode of their The Directors’ Take podcast.

The episode is available to listen to here

We Have Some Notes… goes to Denmark

Honoured and delighted to be invited by the wonderful writer and director Lone Scherfig to talk about advice from my book, We Have Some Notes… The Insider’s Guide to Notes, Script Editing and Development, at Nordisk Film in Copenhagen.

With Lone Scherfig at Nordisk Film

Lone and everyone at Nordisk Film and Creative Alliance were so incredibly kind and welcoming and such a warm, engaged and receptive audience it was a joy throughout. And I was very appreciative of their good advice to take a train ride up the coast to visit the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, which was beautiful.

I’m so grateful for the whole opportunity and experience, to be so lucky to talk about inspiring filmmaker advice from my book in such a wonderful place with lovely people. Tak!
